Welcome to Universal Martial Arts Systems, a unique and innovative approach to martial arts training. The system offers a versatile and complex curriculum that addresses five ranges of empty hand combatitives as well as blunt and edged weaponry. Through the Universal Defensive Tactics Program, the arrest and control tactics are addressed along with firearm retention and control techniques taught and used by law enforcement, military and security agencies.
Mr. William “Sarg” Edwards, the founder of Wu Wie Chuan Lum, had a hard- edged approach towards his martial arts training with an emphasis on physical conditioning. His influence is very evident throughout this curriculum. Mr. Edwards also brought the influence of Jeet Kune Do concepts and Thai kickboxing through his extensive training with Mr. Dan Inosanto, Mr. Chai Sirisute and Mr. Larry Hartsell.
I had the honor of training with Mr. Edwards for over ten years before his untimely death in 1992. Since then, I have become a private student of Mr. Larry Hartsell, the founder of Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association of Los Angeles, CA. I also train with various other instructors to stay current in the multiple styles of martial arts.
